L'Imam Ousmane Diakité, précédemment secrétaire exécutif du Cosim, a été désigné comme président de l'organisation et guide de la communauté musulmane nationale, à l'issue d'une réunion du Collège de transition, composé de sept éminentes personnalités du Cosim.

Né le 1er janvier 1956, l'Imam Ousmane Diakité est diplômé d'une maîtrise en droit public option administration intérieure obtenue de 1979 à 1983 à l'Université Mohamed V de Rabat / Maroc, à la faculté de droit et sciences politiques. 

Au niveau académique, il a fait ses études primaires et secondaires à l'école Dar-El Hadits de Bouaké (Nord ivoirien). De 1977 à 1978, il intègre l'Université des Sciences Humaine de Strasbourg / France, au département des langues (pour une formation en langue française)

Sur le plan professionnel, il était de 2014 à ce jour membre de la commission centrale de la Commission électorale indépendante (CEI), en qualité de représentant de la Communauté Musulmane.

De 1986 à 2016, il fut fonctionnaire au Ministère de l'Intérieur en qualité de : Secrétaire Général de Mairie. Professeur d'arabe et de français, il a officié au groupe scolaire Mamadou Coulibaly à Odienné de 1984 à 1986. 

De puis 1988 à ce jour, il est membre de la Ligue Islamique de prédicateurs en Côte dIvoire (LIPCI). En 1990, il a fondé le Comité Musulman de l'encadrement de la jeunesse musulmane du département d'Odienné.

En outre, de janvier 2017- à ce jour, il occupe le poste de Secrétaire général de la Fondation Hinneh (compassion) pour l'Education et les activités humanitaires. Dans la même année, en octobre, il devient membre de la Fondation Mohammed VI des Oulémas Africains- Section Côte d'Ivoire. 

Il est également membre du Bureau national du Conseil national islamique (CNI) depuis 1994. De 2003 à ce jour, il est Imam Khatib de la Mosquée du Mont Arafat de la Riviera Bonoumin à Cocody-Abidjan.

L'Imam Ousmane Diakité a été désigné en 2007 secrétaire exécutif du Bureau National du Conseil Supérieur des Imams, des mosquées et des affaires islamiques en Côte d'Ivoire (COSIM), avant d'être porté à la tète de l'organisation.
